Forces and Motion

Play these games and learn about how force interacts with motion in the world.

1. Energy and Motion (Houghton Mifflin):
  • First watch and learn how potential energy is changed into kinetic energy on a roller coaster.
  • Click on the speakers for help reading the information.
  • Click on TRY IT and change the height of the hill and loop to see if it will run.
  • Experiment with different settings and test how well your coaster will run. 
2. Coaster Creator (Jason Project):
  • Click PLAY NOW.
  • Begin learning how coasters work by choosing, LEARN HOW TO CRAFT A SUPER COASTER!
  • After the tutorial, follow the instructions on creating a coaster yourself. 
  • Make as many points as you can when constructing your coaster. 
3. 3 Puck Chuck:
  • Start by clicking on HOW TO PLAY and practice using different pucks while interacting with different obstacles such as gum or oil.
  • Continue clicking NEXT STEP until you have completed the instructions and begin playing with 1 PLAYER.
  • Use your knowledge to hit the puck into the hole with as few shots as possible.
4. Gravity Launch! (AAAS):
  • Read the mission given to you in green at the beginning.
  • Adjust your THRUST (speed of rocket) and the ANGLE (take-off angle) to orbit and/or hit your targets.
  • DON’T FORGET you will have to overcome the force of gravity that keeps things from floating off Earth!
