Weather and Storms

Explore how lightning and tornadoes form in a storm. Then predict the weather forecast accurately for three days in the future. Will you be a successful intern for the WHED station weather forecaster?

1. Lightning and Thunder (Jason Project):

  • Scroll through introduction.
  • Follow tutorial as it explains how charges react in a cloud.
  • Match the action in the cloud to its description.
2. Tornadoes:
  • Drag scrubber (dial) across the labels to watch and learn how a tornado forms.
  • On the "Safety Tips" portion, click on each bullseye to read information.
3. Weather (Edheads):
  • Click on “Report the Weather.”
  • Choose a level of reporting (Start with level 1).
  • Follow directions to choose the correct weather symbol and place it appropriately on the weather map.
  • Practice each level of “Reporting the Weather.”
  • Next click on “Predict Weather,” choose a level and follow directions.
  • You will need paper for the math portion of the prediction.
