Winter Vacation Playlist - Imagine Your Future!
Hi there students!
Vacations are a great time to let your mind wonder beyond your everyday routine, and begin imagining your future! The activities in this playlist will help you explore many cool careers and get some advice about getting to college from students not much older than you are.
We all know that technology is the future, but you may not know about many of the interesting jobs, in fields from fashion to sports, that use technology skills. Dot Diva is a great place to meet some real-life young people who are following their passion into well paying careers using technology. After exploring the "Profiles," and "What's Your Passion" sections, write down 3 jobs that look the most interesting to you. Then write a paragraph with at least 3 sentences for each job you selected, explaining why it is appealing to you. (Note: even though the site is focused on girls, these jobs can be done by boys too!)
Know How 2 GO:
As the girl on the site says, "Middle Schoolers: College is Closer Than You Think." And the more you know about college and the process of getting ready to go, the better the chance you have for success! Explore the "Success Stories" section, clicking on at least 5 of the "Real Questions," and viewing the answers. Then write down the 3 most memorable stories or pieces of advice that you found, and explain why they were important to you, using at least 1 sentence for each story. Finally, write down 1 thing that you will do to make sure you get to college that you learned from the site.

Follow the directions on the site to create a Storybird of at least 5 pages that describes a day in your life as an adult in your imagined career. Save the Storybird to your account on the site (so you can view it later), and/or print it out.
