ATLANTA, August 17, 2017–PowerMyLearning in Greater Atlanta is excited to celebrate its 10-year anniversary at Inspire 2017 on August 24. Co-hosted by Atlanta Technology Professionals (ATP), the annual gala will bring together community and business leaders to commemorate the education nonprofit’s impact on metro Atlanta’s students, families, and teachers.
To date, PowerMyLearning in Greater Atlanta has served more than 27 Title 1 schools and 21,800 students, delivering a range of programs and services that increase family involvement, support educators with personalized learning, and address the challenges of STEM integration.
Unlike other edtech outfits in the space that build algorithms to replace human interaction, PowerMyLearning leverages technology to strengthen the learning relationships between the people that matter most in students’ lives–their families and teachers. This relationship-centered approach has resonated strongly with school leaders, culminating in local partnerships that include Brown Middle School, Dunbar Elementary, and DuBois Integrity Academy.
PowerMyLearning Executive Director Kwame Johnson said, “Inspire is time for us to showcase how we team up with students, teachers, and families to increase student achievement. We are excited to celebrate our 10-year anniversary alongside the families, community leaders, and industry partners who make our work possible. Together, we can enable every student to thrive in the digital world of tomorrow.”
Inspire 2017 is backed by a growing roster of more than 20 strategic sponsorships, including Atlanta’s premier technology companies. The NCR Corporation and General Electric are Platinum sponsors.
The NCR Corporation Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer William (Bill) VanCuren is the Event Chair. He said, “NCR is proud to be a sponsor of PowerMyLearning Inspire. PowerMyLearning is making a significant impact on the community. Raising the technical literacy of our disadvantaged youth in Atlanta requires more involvement from technology companies, and NCR is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with PowerMyLearning-Atlanta in this endeavor.”
During the annual fundraiser, PowerMyLearning will recognize CareerBuilder as the 2017 Corporate Volunteer of the Year. Since 2014, CareerBuilder has donated over 1,300 computer systems to students and their families; participated in initiatives like e-drives and the Adopt-a-School program; and volunteered countless hours at PowerMyLearning’s warehouse.
The organization thanks its sponsors and looks forward to serving metro Atlanta’s students, educators, and families throughout 2017 and beyond. To obtain media credentials or learn more about Inspire 2017, please contact Oneisha Freeman at ofreeman@powermylearning.org.
