    Katie James

    Director of Research

    Katie leads our efforts to use data to generate continuous improvement of our products and programs and to build evidence of our impact. Prior to PowerMyLearning, she conducted design-based research in partnership with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) with a focus on culturally responsive education.

    In previous roles, Katie has extensive research experience across a range of STEM topics, including engaging in a large-scale randomized control trial across multiple schools in CPS. Katie also has served as Director of Curriculum and Research for Academic Approach, where she analyzed quantitative learning outcomes related to instructional interventions and professional development. She also has experience conducting developmental psychology studies with preschool- and elementary-aged children.

    Katie holds a PhD in Learning Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an EdM in Mind, Brain, and Education from Harvard University, and a BA in Psychology from Northwestern University.
